The Sludge Safety Project has been lobbying for an end to slurry injections and a protection of West Virginia's drinking water since 2006.
From a front page New York Times article on the community health impacts of underground injection to the issuance of a mandatory moratorium on new injection permits, residents and supporters are showing the West Virginia legislature that the time to act on toxic coal sludge is NOW!
With each year, SSP has built more political power, garnered more media attention and advanced further in the legislative process. Each year, we come closer to meeting our goals, but it's people power that will get us the legislation needed to protect our communities.
